How I felt Being an Egg Donor
This moving account was submitted by an anonymous egg donor who wanted to share her special contribution to humanity.
I am a 33 year old mother of two from Johannesburg. I enjoy living my life to the fullest – who impulse and with excitement. Im the kind of person who reads two books at the same time because I don’t want to miss out, I donate blood and philosophise about important and relevant things in life. I love dancing and excitement. I love people and I have a sincere empathy for pain and am moved to help people where I can.
Being blessed with having two children, I can contribute to infertile people. I wanted to become an egg donor.
I found baby2mom Egg Donation and Surrogacy Programme. Jenny guided me through the egg donation process and I started the program. I was counselled by a qualified person who answered all my questions. Then I had blood work done and finally the scan. baby2mom was always checking on my progress in terms of the egg donor screening and to make sure I was comfortable and understood every thing.
When I was contacted to confirm my availability for an egg donation recipient to proceed as an egg donor, I was required to answer a few questions about my personality. Quite coincidentally these traits happened to be exactly the same as the person receiving my donor eggs. I was truly touched and inspired.
During the course of the egg donation program, I was a little worried that I had not followed all guidelines correctly, but was reassured and felt better.
The actual egg retrieval went quite smoothly and I felt so honoured to help in this special way. I was so anxious to hear the news about the egg donation result. I got an email saying, “thank you for your amazing contribution. Your recipient is pregnant and wishes to express sincere gratitude and love to you.” I was so moved and inspired and brought to instant tears. I needed time to gather myself and reflect upon the deed and the miracle in which I had contributed to significantly.
The egg donation deed has moved me and changed my life. It has given me a chance to really give of myself to people who desperately need it. My next egg donation is lined up and I only hope and pray that I will again be part of another blessing for some one else.
